"Colour and Light in the Ocean from Earth Observation: Relevance and Applications; Products from Space and Perspectives from Models"

This workshop is organized by the European Space Agency, in the context of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) programme element, and PML.

Workshop Objectives

  • Bring together users and providers of ocean colour products from the SEOM, OC-CCI and MAPPS projects to provide input to, and feedback on, these products. Inputs and contributions from other relevant projects and activities are most welcome.
  • Discuss key science issues and make recommendations on the steps to be taken to develop and strengthen collaborations between communities engaged in space and in-situ observations, and marine ecosystem modelling.
  • Explore ways in which ocean colour products can be used to improve marine ecosystem models for climate studies.
  • Define a Scientific Roadmap identifying challenge areas and research priorities for future EO data exploitation activities and shape ideas for potential new ocean- colour products to be developed for climate research and ecosystem modelling in the era of the Sentinel-3 mission.

Registration will be open in mid-July 2016.
