On 21 September 2016, Baltic Earth will organize a half-day scientific seminar on the topic of "Exchanges between the North and Baltic Seas – A scientific overview" during the Fehmarnbelt Days 2016, 20-22 September in the HafenCity University Hamburg, Germany. The seminar will give a scientific overview over processes going on in the transition area between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.

This interdisciplinary half-day seminar is intended to provide an overview over the current scientific knowledge concerning exchange processes between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. This involves aspects of atmospheric and oceanographic exchanges, as well as biological and biogeochemical aspects, but also anthropogenic pressures like shipping shall be treated. The event addresses scientists and non-scientific stakeholders from different disciplines, practitioners and other professionals as well as the general public.

The Fehmarnbelt Days are a stakeholder relevant conference around the planned Fehmanbelt crossing and cooperation in the southwest Baltic Sea region. The overview presentations will be understandable for non-scientists.
