With the event "Peenemünde as a national natural heritage - history, development, social responsibility", the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU) will deal with the varied history of their pieces of real estate.
The area in Peenemünde is very representative for the environmental policy and historical examination of natural heritage areas in their meaning for the whole society. In the last ten years, the DBU took over 70 big pieces with an area of 69000 ha of real estate from the Federal Republic of Germany with the goal to protect those natural heritages for environmental protection.
The majority of the natural heritages are in former Eastern Germany and were used until 1990 by the National People's Army and the soviet forces. More information and the whole program of the event here.
