Beschreibung:

Solutions for sustainable water management, actions and planning processes, experiences and outputs from SAWA. The SAWA project is part of the Interreg IVB North Sea Region Programme. The main aim of the project is to develop a common adaptive implementation strategy for the new flood directive (FD) integrating the settings of the water framework directive (WFD).

At SAWA’s final conference the projects work on EU Flood Directive and Water Framework Directive, experiences from Flood Risk Management planning, stakeholder involvement, capacity building and how to make Flood Risk Management (FRM) successful and effective will be presented. Additionally workshops on “FRM-Planning-Cycle Process – Tools – Actors”, “FRM-Planning-Cycle Measures – Techniques – Efficiency” and “Capacity Building – Dissemination – Education” will be held.

Five countries from the North Sea Region have formed a long-term partnership of expertise in order to learn from each other on how to manage water and its risks. Together they developed measures not only for dealing with future flood risks, but also to enhance the quality of life for those who live in close proximity to water. SAWA´s role is to promote novel and innovative solutions in flood risk management by adaptive flood protection measures and by delivering the tools to transfer this knowledge to the next generation.
